We love our mommies!!!

Mother's Day Fair..students putting special orders for their beloved moms.
7th to 9th April 2010.

Mother's Day Fair 2010

PSG members helping out at the fair.

EPPS PSG has once again organised a Mother Day Fair for our students to purchase special gifts for their mothers to show their love and appreciation.

This year we offer beautiful miniature plants apart from the popular bears, flowers and hearts that we offer in previous years. The idea behind it is the message that a mother's love is nurturing, pure and growing every day just like a beautiful plant...that's why they should be treasured and appreciated by their children.

Students may purchase their gifts on 7th to 9th April at the canteen during recess time and collect the gifts on 6th & 7th May (also during recess time at the canteen) just in time for Mother's Day which falls on 9th May 2010 this year.

Thank you for your continuing support.

Mother's Day Tribute

Diana Teo
There is one person who deserves to be mentioned as the " Jovial Mother of all Mothers" in our group and that person will be none other than our very own Diana Teo. This lady gave birth to triplets some 13 years ago and since then never did anything quietly! Everything was...the more the merrier.

She's also a very dear friend who is extremely caring and dependable at the same time. There is not a single bad bone in her body. She never speak ill of anyone and everyone loves her breezy, rambunctious ways.

Diana might have her handsfull with 3 children but this jovial lady is overflowing with love. She is so full of energy and everyone will be attracted by her easy charm and her infectious laughter.

Diana is a people person. She makes friends easily and she's everyone's favourite Auntie. She also has a "magic wand" which she uses to cook in a hurry. She's a multitasker and a very relaxed, happy person. She is one of the most selfless person I have ever met. A real gem.

She is contented being a doting mom to her 3 children, a loving wife, a filial daughter to her family and a good friend to all of us at EPPS.PSG. That is really our blessing. Diana served as Vice Chairperson for 2 years in 2007 and 2008. She was a great partner to work with and a wonderful mentor to some of our new members.

Today, her children, all aged 13 has already left EPPS but Diana is still here! She confessed that she joined her children's PSG in their respective secondary schools but she could not leave EPPS PSG because of the friendship and the bond that as we share. We hope she will stay as long as possible as she is one of us.

Thank you for your friendship Diana. You're a diamond in the rough! But we love you all the same! Happy Mother's Day!

Show some love!

If there's anything we are short of... it will never be creativity and lots of LOVE! I had a hard time coming up with the featured moms because I know we have a very lovely group of moms and they are all very unique and special in their own way.

I will continue featuring our moms and let you get to know these special women at a personal level and know what a wonderful group with have here in EPPS.

This Mother's Day, we had a surprise gift from one of our member, Chiang Meng Lee. She is one of the moms who is more artistically inclined and has a good eye for art and design. She came up with a personalised Mother's day card for each of our members featuring each person's unique characteristics like whether they love to shop, or cook, and how they dress up and make up! She said she had a good time putting those cards together.

It was touching! We never expected that she would be so observant! It was such a lovely gesture. Thank you Meng Lee, you made this Mother's Day even more special for us!

Mother's Day Special Tribute

Mother's Day is a very special day for us at EPPS PSG.

This is so because most of our parent volunteers are the mothers of our students. What's even more special about that is that these mothers has developed a strong bond and keen sense of camaraderie amongst ourselves. In the process of rendering our time for the school, we have had alot of opportunity to network and get to know each other very well.. almost like a sorority of sisters.

Therefore I think it is appropriate at this time of the year to give a tribute to some our moms who has contributed so much to the parent support group, the school and all the team members.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all our PSG members as well as all the EPPS Moms out there!

-Yvonne Chin

Featured Moms

Mdm Susan Koh

What makes Susan so special?

She is a mother of four, Linus aged 17, Winniline aged 14, Bentley aged 10 and Sean aged 9. She also have 2 dogs, Moon and Oscar and 12 hamsters at last count.

This lady is the epitome of a superwoman. She cooks, drives her children to school and back, she bakes yummy cakes and cookies, she volunteers at school and she keeps up with her dancing lessons and power walking in the mornings.

She is always willing to help a friend in need and is a source of comfort to alot of us in the group. She's very kind and generous to a fault.

There is also another side of Susan which makes her even more outstanding is that she is an enterprising lady. Ever the keen learner and on- the- go type personality, she single handedly sourced products, worked out the costings and product codes for the Mother's Day Fair. She even took the trouble to source for products in Malaysia so that we are able to better value products and pass on the savings to our students. That's how dedicated and thoughtful she is.

She's a wonderful friend to have and a loving mother to her children. Thank you for all your help and dedication Susan, for without you, the Mother's Day Fair and Jumble Sale will not be as successful as we expected.

The good news is.. she will also be the EPPS SFE Coordinator which will ensure a further tighter collaboration between school, parents, students, teachers and the community.

Susan was appointed as the Secretary to the Committee and also Leader for Special Projects in 2009 in recognition to her past efforts and contributions to EPSP.PSG.

Mdm Rahimah Bte Asmore

Rahimah is a gentle lady with a ready smile. She is always calm and serene. Nothing fazes her. She has a heart of gold and always willing to share and give.
We are very happy to have her appointed as Vice Chairman for the PSG in 2009.

That's what makes this mum of 5 so special. All 4 of her older children are in their 20s, the last child was a " surprise" as she put it. Her daughter who is still studying in EPPS is only 10 years old!

But as she enjoys children and loves giving back to the community, she continues to volunteer at school, teach children who are weak in Malay and also teaches Malay as a CCM teacher to other primary school as well.

Rahimah takes pride in being a good mother and wife. When she commits to doing something, she give it her all. She always do her best in whatever she does. Rahimah is so cool that she's voted the "Most wanted future mother-in-law" in the group!

What is most memorable to me was her act of kindness during our Teacher's Day concert last year to a bunch of students. These students had low self confidence, they weren't doing well academically and didn't think they can make a difference. They were not attending rehearsals and not serious abt the performance. Just like everything else in their lives, they think it wld be a failure.

However, Rahimah persevered, encouraged, counselled and even feed them to show them that they can do something to show their appreciation for their teachers. In the end, some dropped off but most stayed and did their performce and did well. These students went on to do their PSLE and moved on to their respective secondary schools.

I think what we did was to give them encouragement and restored their self confidence. That was very special indeed. We gave them faith that someone really care for them. These students went to her house uninvited after the performance.. she invited them in to her house, feed them and welcome them like family.

When I asked her why she did that? She said.. " Yvonne, these children....they are always left on their own... all they need is love." Spoken like a real angel.

Mother's Day Fair 8th, 9th and 13th April 2009

Mother's Day Fair is conducted differently this year. We had all items for sale on display and students pre- order and collect their purchase on 6th and 7th of May just a few day before Mother's Day which falls on 10th of May this year.
These items will come with a specially hand made cards made by PSG members for our students' beloved mummies. Items went on sales were priced from $1.50 to a maximum of $5. PSG has put in alot of effort in sourcing our products that are high quality and good value.
Ms. Susan Koh deserves a special mention for leading this project in sourcing, costing and planning the logisics and display. We think we did a very good job. The other PSG members were there to support the fair as well.
Nonetheless, we had good response from the students, teachers and parents. Thank you for support our initiatives and have a Happy Mother's Day!

Mother's Day Fair 28th to 30th April 2008

Mother's Day Fair was a great success! Thanks to all the support we have been getting from all EPPS parents.

The fair was opened full days from 28th to 30th April from 9.30am to 4.00pm. Our PSG members took turns to help out during that period. Over 25 parents were on duty at different times during that period.

On the first day, we had alot of students coming in to check out the items on display. By the second day, we almost sold out everything! On the third day, the students come in and bought out almost everything on sight.

The children love the teddy bears, the Auntie Susan's cookies, the flowers, the trinket boxes, the clay cakes.. there's just so many to choose from. It was an exciting 3 days and the participating PSG members who were on duty had as much fun helping the children decide what to buy as well as helping them personalise the children's gifts for their beloved moms.

Preparation for Mother's Day Fair 23rd Mar to 24th April 2008

As early as 23rd March, PSG members has been meeting on a weekly basis working together pitching in their artistic skills to make beautiful gifts for our EPPS mums.

These gifts such as trinket boxes, flowers, clay cakes and gift boxes were all painstakingly created to be sold at the Mother's Day Fair on the 28th to 30th April to raise funds for the PSG and needy children.

The papercrafts which were specially designed by our own Helen Chee has intricate detailing and were unique in design. " You can't get this anywhere else .... it is specially made our our mums, that's why it is so special " said Helen Chee.

The claycakes created by our talented Karen Ann were made of clay, the clay dough is kneaded to soften it, coloured and then embellished with beads, pearls and flower creations to create the most beautiful, miniature life like cakes. We had to remind the students many times over that it is not edible as it looks good enough to eat!

The PSG members quite happily come in on a weekly basis to help out as it is such a pleasurable way to spend Thursday mornings with good friends for a good cause. We are so fortunate to have so many compassionate and committed members who's always willing to give our school some of their precious time for the common good.

On the lighter side, there were lots of other activities to keep both mothers and daughters to indulge and experience. It was certainly a lovely bonding time for both mothers and daughters.
