It was a fine, sunny day, from 8.00am EPPS was abuzzed with activities with people setting up booth and preparing for the myriad of activities ahead. Children in bright ethnic clothes were running around having a great time as they know that it w0uld be a day full of fun and laughter.
PSG members started setting shop as early as 8.15am, mums came with freshly prepared cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, Indian Muruku, Malay kueh-kueh and chinese delicacies such as yam cake, glutinous rice and steamed lapis. These delicacies has been specially prepared for our visitors at the open house.
These mums all decked up in their best ethnic clothes and brilliant smiles to show support for EPPS Racial Harmony Day. There was a lot of cheer in the air. It feels like we were celebrating some festive occasion but its not quite Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavalli or Christmas.. it is nonetheless as festive and happy occasion as parents and children from different races get together and have fun dressing up and enjoy a uniquely harmonious blended occasion.
It is indeed a joy to see the "One people, one nation" at work. It is truly remarkable how Singapore has achieved its unique Singaporean identity.
EPPS PSG members are honoured to have a part to play in this year's Racial Harmony Day. Twenty-six PSG members were at hand to man the PSG stalls and other designated stalls as well support other activities such as VIP visit and manning the Antique Shop.
Special mention must go to several people who made this event memorable for PSG. I'd like to thank Diana for her undying commitment and devotion to PSG to the extent of learning to make glutinous rice and yam cake in 48 hours so that she can sell them at the event and also being the main coordinator for the event. Thanks to Helen Chee for helping us design and make the beautiful Sunshine of my Life signage without her talent, our booth will be rather dull. Thanks to Faizah for baking the 100 delicious cupcakes for Sunshine notebook sales, these cupcakes were so tasty, my kids and I were fighting over them!Check out the cupcakes on her website! http://ladydeyria.multiply.com/photos/album/27
Thanks to Susan, Maple, Zubaidah,Juriana, Rahimah, Rohani, Jenny, Vathana and Michelle for helping to bake, coordinate, run the stalls and manage the monies and stock. I really need to thank our super sales PSG Dad Raymond who helped sell our Sunshine notebooks and cakes.. he was very industrious! Thanks to all the parents who came to help( I can't possibly list of you here but you know who you are) and give their time, braving the HOT weather! I am deeply touched by your commitment and support for PSG.
The event went smoothly and was was very well attented. The crowd had a great time with so many activities going on. There's so much to do and just not enough time to do everyting!
Kudos to the Jeremy Ang and EPPS organising committee for doing such a great job at organising this event and PSG is very happy to be a part of this event.
